Lines of Times, it
should be noted, is a collection of poems which spans across many spheres in
life including politics, economics and social-cultural realms, human
relationships. It equally transcends into the deeds and misdeeds of humanity
while evoking debates in the public space and at the same time crusading for a
sane and safe society.
Speaking at the
launching ceremony, the chairman of the occasion, popular Cameroonian movie
actor, Otia Vitalis and the book reviewer, Toh Sylvester of the University of
Buea in separate remarks hailed the journalist-poet for daring into a venture
like poetry which they described as challenging.
The reviewer said
poetry is an important way of passing on a message to the society whose impact,
he sustained, needs no emphasis. To the chairman, the initiative by Bouddih
Adams was worth emulating. He said anything put into writing will live on and
be of use to future generations.
The collection of over
60 poems is published by ANUCAM publishers. Among some of the heart-rendering
poems are: “O’ Land of My Kin, Men Not Enough, Come Again Christ, Birds Of a
Feather Prey Together, Break The Silence-sister Sawe, Kungi: Land of heroes,
Mighty Mt Cameroon and if the Mungo Bridges No More”.
Henry K. Jick of the department
of English, University of Buea in a statement said: “Lines of Times” typifies
the crossing of borders, language, geography and culture as well as the
examination of the permeable frontier between the world of things and deeds and
the world of the imagination.
