Minister Fame Ndongo gave the guarantee in Kumba on Saturday July 5, 2014, while appraising some temporal structures earmarked by the Meme administration to host the establishment.
During the inspection visit, the higher education boss, accompanied by the pro-chancellor of the University of Buea, Maurice Tchuente, alongside other dignitaries, made stopovers at the Meme divisional transport delegation, the Kumba city banquet hall and the college campuses of GTHS Kumba and CCAS Kumba; all temporal sites for HTTTC.
After the inspection visit, officials of the ministry disclosed that CCAS Kumba and GTHS Kumba will offer the baby institution classrooms, while the transport delegation and banquet hall will serve as lecturers’ and administrative offices respectively.
Speaking at the end of the working session that followed the contact tour, Fame Ndongo implored the pioneer HTTTC Kumba director, Joyce Endeley, to maximise her academic and professional prowess in ensuring that the school remains a place to be, just like other establishments of the University of Buea.
For her part, Joyce Endeley, vowed to dedicate herself unselfishly for the growth of the institution. She was very grateful to the head of state for creating the school and appointing her as first director.
In the meantime, the vice chancellor of the University of Buea, Nalova Lyonga, noted that though funds for HTTTC are yet to be available, the central administration of UB will not relent in efforts to see that the school becomes a reference institution.
It is worth noting that according to a ministerial circular of June 26, 2014, launching the competitive entrance examination into HTTTC Kumba, only 500 candidates will be retained for its first academic year. Of the 500 chances, 300 are reserved for the second cycle and the rest for the first cycle.
