Armed men attack Boyo

From Mua Patrick Mughe in Buea with field reports

There is said to be total fear and tension in Konene village, Fon Foka sub-division in Boyo division, North West region following Wednesday’s attack by four unidentified armed gunmen clad in military outfits. The attack which occurred on the early hours of Wednesday left a 43-year old man, Chibu Salriki dead.
Meanwhile the hoodlums made away with physical cash estimated at over 20 million from cattle traders. Reports say ever since the attack which left several others injured , the people are said to be living in panic as the attackers are yet to be tracked-down.
Confirming the attack via telephone yesterday from Bamenda, a native of Konene, Prince Ngwieh Michelson Sah narrated to The Guardian Post:  “On Wednesday October 15, I received a call from the village informing me that armed men had attacked some cattle traders. You know in our area, we have two cattle markets-Konene and Su-Bum .So some traders left Konene and were going down to Su-Bum Cattle Market in the early hours of that ill-fated morning. They were about four including one anti-gang member”.
The former North West regional president of the Cameroon National Youth Council went further to explain that on their way down just after leaving Konene towards BuaBua , the traders were  ambushed  by four men dressed in military outfits and carrying military guns.
Michelson Sah told The Guardian Post yesterday that: “There is tension in the village especially given that the guy who was shot and killed was a leader of the village anti-gang unit. There is no operational gendarme post in the area,” he lamented.
Asked if any efforts were being employed to track down the assailants, Michelson disclosed further: “Immediately I got wind of the attack, I inform the governor of the situation. Also, I called the regional delegate for national security and the legion commander, the compagnie commander for Boyo and the commissioner of special branch…we are still waiting on their intervention.”
Meanwhile following Wednesday’s macabre incident that has reduced the entire Boyo division into a high risk zone ,  Fon of Sawi ,Ngwieh Emmanuel is said to have alerted the administrative authorities though we are told no official investigation has been opened this far.  To note Sawi fondom spans across villages like Konene, BuaBua, Su-Bum, Kimbi and NgunaBum within Fonfuka sub-division.
