MAGZI director forecasts bright future for Bamenda

From Michael Ndi in Bamenda

Christol Georges Manon: MAGZI director
The general manager of the Industrial Zones Development and Management Authority, MAGZI, Christol Georges Manon has said the Bamenda industrial zone which comes after that of Douala and Yaounde is very promising given that it is on the Bamenda-Enugu corridor.
The general manager, who visited the Bamenda industrial zone at Mile 6 Nkwen last Thursday to appreciate work already done at the site, said he was very satisfied with the work done. “Agro-industrial companies are already applying for places at the site and we expect to search for other industrial zones to add to the one in Nkwen like what is obtaining in Douala which has several industrial zones,” Manon corroborated.
He said industrial zones need a lot of energy to run the machines and was optimistic that hydroelectricity which is about to be developed in Katsina Alas will beef up the current energy supply at the Bamenda industrial zone.
Having extended electricity and feeder roads to the zone, Christol Georges disclosed that the next phase will be the tarring of roads in the area especially as the Bamenda industrial zone is going to serve as hub for the Bamenda-Enugu corridor. “I’m pleased to disclose that the Fon of Mankon has indicated his willingness to offer a sizeable land to add to the industrial zone in Nkwen.”
During the assessment visit, the MAGZI general manager told press men that the industrial zone covers 44 hectares land situated at Nkwen, Bamenda III sub-division with a land certificate No. TF/10472/ MEZAM.  He noted that the zone was created in order to put at the disposal of manufacturers and other economic operators, developed land for implantation of industrial or commercial enterprises throughout the national territory.
It is worth mentioning that MAGZI has as a role, to participate in the industrialization process of Cameroon, promote a harmonious development of all region through a joint policy of industrial installations, facilitate the installation of all economic operators both foreign and national by eliminating the uncertainty land ownership and its development as well as to facilitate relations between economic operators and the administration, among others. MAGZI is the best enterprise guaranteed for the implantations in Cameroon industrial zones, we gathered.
