From Hamadina Hamza in Maroua

Celebrations marking the release of some 27 individuals kidnapped by the deadly Nigerian sect group, Boko Haram few months behind have been cut shot with another attack by the same group last Wednesday evening.
Militants of the group who reportedly numbered over 50 alighted in three armoured vehicles and stroke at the BIR camp in Limani, Far North region of Cameroon. According to a northern elite, also a reputable journalist who disposes of credible information about Boko Haram insurgency, Guibai Gatama, Wednesday’s ambush led to the killing of eight members of the Cameroonian army.
“8 elements of BIR, a unit of the Cameroonian army were killed yesterday (Wednesday, October 15, 2014) in Limani, Mayo Sava division in a Boko Haram incursion,” Guibai wrote on his facebook page yesterday.
The army has however succeeded to push the terrorists back and retained the territory.
According to Cameroon-infos.Net, a credible online news site which also quoted Guibai as having published the information of the killing of the Cameroonian soldiers, the militant group had last Sunday led another onslaught on the Cameroonian army, just one day after they released the hostages.
The army reacted swiftly with a counterattack which led to the arrest of four of the militant group members in Fotokol, around 11 a.m. but the war escalated to other localities of the region (Far North) including Amchidé, Banki, Fotokol, Makambara, Djokana and even Gambaru in Nigeria.
The attack is coming at the time when Nigeria and Cameroon are holding a three-day bilateral meeting in Abuja, (Wednesday, 15 October – Friday 17) to fine-tune fresh strategies to stamp out the scourge of terrorism from the West African sub-region. Cameroon is being represented in the meeting by senior officers of the military.
The meeting, The Guardian Post was hinted is a follow-up of previous international and regional meetings to foster common ground in the fight against insurgency and terrorism.
