Meme Drivers’ Union, administration posed for a show-down

From Njingang Godwin in kumba

Drivers plying the Kumba-Mbonge, Kumba-Ekondo Titi-Mumdemba roads under their umbrella union of MENTU, have called on the Meme administration to reduce the number of road checks on the axes of the Kumba-Ekondo Titi-Mumdemba road as a precondition to get them pay taxes.
The president of MENTU, Nana Evaristus who doubles as president of Mbonge road drivers union made the call during their monthly general assembly that took place in Kumba over the weekend. The trade unionists complained of the frequent road controls which they described as stumbling block to their activities.
Mbah Aforsi, a Kumba-based driver plying the Kumba-Mumdemba road lamented that they give money, most often referred to as ‘settle control’ on their way to Mumdemba and upon return; they are bound to give money to a new control team that has taken over. “It makes it difficult to even have something to take home after work. When you remind them that their colleagues had collected money in the morning, they tell you that was for their colleagues and they need theirs now.” He bewailed.
