The sacked national chairman of the St. John
Ambulance Brigade Cameroon, Nkamanyi Moses Nchinda has told reporters in Kumba
that he remains the legitimate chairman of the organization.
In a press briefing last Saturday in Kumba, Nkamanyi
Moses who was ousted for gross mismanagement, attempted an explanation to some
of the burning issues that have hampered the smooth functioning of the organization
so far.
While claiming that he is still the legitimate
president of the organization, Nkamanyi elucidated: “In 2008 when I returned
from the USA, I made contacts with the St. John Ambulance headquarters in
London and they in turn gave me accreditation to operate a branch of St. John
in Cameroon. Some persons in Cameroon, in the likes of Mr. Mboke who had been
acting in the name of St. John were ordered to stop with immediate effect. From
there, I carried out a nation wide tour to Wum, Kumba, Tiko, Buea, etc to plant
this organization in the country. In the process, I brought in Kum Fabian,
Shengang Richard, Bazanyi Michael, Diana Arrey, and Barrister Ashu Joseph and others,
to work with me in implanting the organization across the country. But today,
they are fighting me.”
According to Moses Nkamanyi, he received a letter of
accreditation from the ministry of territorial administration and
decentralization, an accreditation which was followed by a series of conventions
signed with the ministry of public health to provide humanitarian services to
people in the community.
The chairman who has been declared persona non grata
by other St. John members lamented how people whom he brought to the
organization and took for training in South Africa were today fighting him.
Nkamanyi stated that in 2008, Kum Fabian who is
tussling for power was dismissed from his post as public relations officer and
in 2011; he was finally dismissed from the organisation along side Diana Arrey
Mbi, to name but these.
Recently, a letter from the South West governor’s
office dated September 15 was addressed to all six senior divisional officers
in the region, declaring the Kum-led faction as an illegal entity.
Meantime, Nkamanyi’s opponents have accused him of
using part of the money he allegedly siphoned from St. John to manipulate both
the administration and judiciary in the region. They advanced that Nkamanyi’s
intention is to cause the charity organization to die a natural death so that
he will not be accountable to anybody.
