From Njingang Godwin in Kumba
The secretary general of the Cameroon People’s
Democratic Movement, CPDM, Jean Nkuete will tomorrow lead a ten man CPDM
central committee delegation to Mbonge and then Bai Sombe for the burial of the
deceased YCPDM national president, Mbonda Stephen Motia.
The move to pay last respect to late Mbonda and the
designation of the delegates is contained in a communiqué signed last Monday by
CPDM scribe, Jean Nkuete.
Going by the list, the CPDM central committee
delegation will comprise of Yaou Aissatou, Talba Malla Ibrahim, Bidoung Mkpatt,
Monkam Nitcheu, Jean Fabien, Ndembiyembe Paul Celestin, Fru Jonathan, Enanga
Kebbi, Tagnin Tchidzem Andre and Tono Ebode Claude.
According to the funeral programme, a copy of which The Guardian Post stumbled on, Mbonda’s corpse
will be removed from the Kumba district hospital mortuary this Saturday at 6am
and conveyed to Mbonge where the funeral ceremony will take place. Much later, family
members, CPDM militants, close friends and sympathisers of the family will
accompany the corpse to his native Bai Sombe village in Mbonge sub-division.
Mbonda Stephen Motia died on August 6, 2014 while
being rushed to Limbe for medical attention. He had just returned from Brazil
for the 2014 World Cup expedition when he fell ill and was admitted at the
Kumba district hospital.
Prior to tomorrow’s burial, there has been
controversy surrounding Mbonda’s marital status. While family members argue
their son was not married, we gathered that the supposed wife claims she was
legally married. Sources close to the wife pointed out that Mbonda and the
woman had a secret wedding in Muyuka because he (Mbonda) needed a marriage
certificate to enable him travel to China for a seminar.
The wife whom
the family doubts the veracity of her civil status was sent out of their
‘matrimonial house’. The fighting was temporally put on a halt following the intervention
of the senior state counsel for Meme who sealed the house in Kumba.
The late Mbonda Stephen died at the age of 45 with leaving
behind five children.
