From Njingang Godwin in Kumba
The council
chambers of the Kumba III council that has been under construction since the
reign of the former mayor, Samuel Ndeme Takang has been abandoned in a thick forest
along the Tancha - Mambanda road.
Manyi Evelyn,
a resident by the abandoned council building in Mambanda told The Guardian Post
that the building has been converted to a hideout for thieves who operate along
the Kumba-Mamfe road. Meanwhile, Forbi Anthony, another neighbor to the
deserted council building narrated how animals like hamsters and rodents have
also made the building their comfortable habitat.
The Guardian
Post has also learnt that the current SDF-run council has not been able to
secure a loan from FEICOM to complete the building.
It was also
alleged that the current council executive, after one year in office has been
able to secure a loan of 40MFCFA which sources say did not go a long way to
complete the building.
Apart from
being ditched in the bushes, students of GBHS Mambanda and passengers of the
Kumba-Mamfe road barely look upon the structure as a monument as they pass
through, a resident told us. He also lamented almost in tears “God safe Kumba
III council from vanishing.” This reporter was also tipped-off that at least
two pythons have been killed in the building ever since the structure was left
by the powers that be to dilapidate.
